Foxflash User Feedback: Kia Sportage QL 1.6 CRDi D4FE. SCR/Adblue OFF

Finding reliable information for newer Kia and Hyundai SCR systems can be frustrating, especially when dealing with uncommon module combinations. After spending time testing and wiring this setup, I wanted to share a confirmed working solution for anyone working on the Kia Sportage QL 1.6 CRDi D4FE platform using FoxFlash.

This setup was successfully completed with a full read and write of the SCR/DCU module.

Working FoxFlash Protocol

The SCR module was successfully connected, read, and written in FoxFlash using:

Renault DCU17PC42 protocol

This was the key discovery because there is very little documented information online about this exact combination.

Important Wiring Note

One critical detail:

The brown wire had to be moved one pin up compared to the standard FoxFlash pinout/photo.

Without this adjustment, communication was not successful.

If you are attempting this setup and cannot establish communication, double-check the brown wire position before assuming the module is unsupported or locked.

Current Status

  • SCR/DCU read: SUCCESS
  • SCR/DCU write: SUCCESS
  • AdBlue OFF: Partially successful

At the moment, the AdBlue timer is still visible in the instrument cluster. The engine ECU itself has not yet been modified, so further work may be required to fully eliminate the countdown and related warnings.

An update will follow once a complete solution is confirmed.
